Product Description
Deflector Options for BBQ, Two-Zone & Pizza
Add indirect heat, two-zone capability and small pizza setups to your MiniMax Big Green Egg. Pair the CGS MiniMax Woo with 10" half-moon deflectors for BBQ and flexible indirect cooking, or choose a full round stone for pizza and baking.
Best paired with: CGS MiniMax Woo, MiniMax Spider setups and related compact kamado accessories.
Choose Your MiniMax Setup
Best for BBQ, smoking and full indirect cooking on the CGS MiniMax Woo.
Good for compact two-zone cooking when you want one direct side and one protected side.
Best as a dedicated small pizza or baking stone.
Better zone coverage on the 13" grid, but not recommended as a pair for full indirect BBQ.
Why 10" Half-Moons Work Well on the MiniMax
The 10" half-moon deflectors are the most flexible option for the CGS MiniMax Woo. Use both halves for indirect BBQ, or use one half-moon when you want a protected side and a direct side for two-zone grilling.
- BBQ and low-and-slow: use two 10" half-moon deflectors for indirect heat under the cooking grid
- Two-zone grilling: use one half-moon to block heat on one side while leaving the other side open
- Easy Woo integration: 10" half-moons slide in and out from the side of the CGS Woo
- Efficient heat control: properly sized for the MiniMax ceramic firebox and cooking area
- Lower replacement cost: if one half breaks, you only replace one side
10" vs. 12" Half-Moon Deflectors
Both sizes can be useful, but they do different jobs. For most MiniMax Woo owners, the 10" half-moons are the better all-around choice because they work for full indirect BBQ and flexible setup changes.
Simple rule: choose 10" half-moons for BBQ and overall flexibility. Choose a 12" half-moon when you want more zone coverage for grilling on the 13" cooking grid.
- Pair of 12" half-moons: sorry, can't do it, not a good fit
Use a Full Round Stone for Pizza
If pizza is the main goal, choose the 10" full round ceramic stone and dedicate it to pizza and baking. Keeping a separate pizza stone helps prevent grease and BBQ drippings from carrying over to your crust.
- Pizza: 10" full round stone is ideal for individual pizzas and kids’ pizzas
- Baking: useful for small breads, desserts and other compact kamado baking setups
- Cleaner flavor: keep your pizza stone separate from greasy BBQ cooks when possible
Remember a Drip Pan & Spacers
For BBQ cooks, pair the deflectors with a CGS 10" stainless drip pan. A drip pan helps shield the ceramic from grease and moisture, keeps the grill cleaner and helps extend the life of the deflectors.
CGS Ceramic Spacers are helpful for pizza setups because they create an air gap under the pizza stone. For BBQ cooks on the MiniMax Woo, spacers are usually not recommended because vertical clearance is already tight.
👉 Pairing Tip: For BBQ, use the 10" stainless drip pan above the deflectors. For pizza, use ceramic spacers when your setup allows an air gap under the pizza stone.

FAQs
Which deflector setup is best for BBQ on the MiniMax?
For BBQ and low-and-slow cooking, use a pair of 10" half-moon deflectors with the CGS MiniMax Woo. This gives you indirect heat under the cooking grid while still fitting the compact MiniMax setup.
Should I choose 10" or 12" half-moons?
Choose 10" half-moons for the most flexibility, especially if you want to use a pair for BBQ. A single 12" half-moon can be useful for broader two-zone grilling, but a pair of 12" half-moons is not recommended for full indirect cooks on the MiniMax.
Which option is best for pizza?
The 10" full round stone is the better choice for pizza because it gives you one continuous ceramic surface. For best results, create an air gap under the pizza stone when your setup allows.
Should I use a drip pan?
Yes, especially for BBQ cooks. A 10" stainless drip pan helps keep grease and moisture off the ceramic and makes cleanup easier.
Should I use ceramic spacers?
Use spacers for pizza when your setup allows an air gap under the stone. For BBQ cooks on the MiniMax Woo, spacer use is usually too tight because vertical clearance is limited.
