Weber Summit Kamado FAQs
How do I add a second cooking level to my Weber Summit Kamado?
Use the CGS Flexible 2nd-Level Expander to add a full or half-grid cooking level above the Summit Kamado’s main grid, creating more room for multi-level cooking and an easy reverse-sear setup.
Add a CGS 18-inch Stainless Drip Pan to protect the ceramic deflectors from grease and drippings.
What is the recommended ceramic deflector size for the Weber Summit Kamado?
CGS recommends 18" Half-Moon Ceramic Deflectors. They can replace your stock metal deflector or be used in tandem with our CGS Spider for versatile indirect and two-zone setups.
Remember to add CGS 18" Stainless Drip Pan to protect the Deflectors from drippings.
How do I set up for two-zone grilling on a Weber Summit Kamado?
Place one CGS 18" Half-Moon Deflector under the cooking grid, using either the upper charcoal ring or our CGS Spider for Weber Summit Kamado to hold it in place.
How do I set up double-indirect cooking on a Weber Summit Kamado?
Set up your primary lower deflector in the standard indirect position, then add a second deflector tier above it using our CGS Spider and CGS 18" Half-Moon Deflectors. Add a CGS 18" Drip Pan to protect the deflectors and keep your setup clean.
This creates two stacked indirect heat barriers below the main cooking grid (and an optional CGS Flexible 2nd-Level Expander) for maximum heat diffusion on low-and-slow cooks.
Do I need a charcoal basket for the Weber Summit Kamado?
While not strictly required, using a charcoal basket makes fire management and airflow control significantly easier.
We recommend the Kick Ash Basket as the go-to choice. We know it fits perfectly, and it is backed by a 3-year warranty. The basket lets you quickly shake out ash before lighting, yielding quicker start-ups and cleaner-burning fires.
