Product Description
A simple, cost-effective way to protect deflectors and keep your medium size kamado cleaner.
A 12 inch stainless drip pan catches drippings, reduces burnt-on mess, and speeds up cleanup after every cook.
Why You Need This Pan
Ceramic deflectors absorb moisture like sponges. Trapped moisture can steam, stress the ceramic, and eventually cause cracks. A 12 inch stainless drip pan helps:
- Protect the deflector: Keeps fluids off ceramic surfaces.
- Cleaner cooks: Reduces burnt-on drippings and off-smells.
- Reusable & durable: Stainless pan stands up to repeated cooks.
Will It Fit My Kamado
This 12 inch stainless drip pan is recommended for the Medium Big Green EGG ConvEGGtor. If your grill is listed on the CGS site, check its product page for additional recommendations. If not, use these quick checks:
- Match sizes: Choose a pan that best matches your deflector’s diameter -12" pan for 12" deflectors.
- Check clearance: Verify the pan fits between the deflector and cooking grid.
- Maintain airflow: Ensure airflow around the pan isn’t overly restricted.
See the Specs section below for exact pan dimensions.
Benefits of an Air Gap
CGS Ceramic Spacers create an air gap between the deflector and drip pan. This gap reduces heat transfer from deflector to pan, minimizing burnt drippings and the off-smells they can create.
How to Use
- Double-line with foil: Overlap two sheets in a “+” pattern for fast cleanup.
- Extend coverage: Foil up and out over the pan's rim, if needed.
- Reusable: Proper foiling will greatly extend the pan's useful life.
- Placement: Set directly on the deflector stone, or elevate with CGS Spacers.
Aluminum Best Practices
- Melting point: Aluminum melts around 1200°F (reachable in a kamado if left unchecked).
- Leaching risk: Acidic foods or temps above 400°F can leach small amounts of aluminum—elevating the pan above a hot deflector helps reduce temperatures.
-
Foiling a deflector:
- Minimize foil on the deflector’s bottom side.
- Keep foil loose on top and along edges.
- Avoid excessive cracks and crinkles—they can leak.
- Use a double layer of foil for better protection.
12" Drip Pan Specs
- Diameter: 12″
- Sidewall: 3/4" to 1" tapered side
- Edge: Rolled top edge for strength
- Material: 200 Series Stainless Steel
- Finish: Will heat-tarnish with use (foil recommended)
Use with setups that employ 12-inch round heat deflectors on mid-size kamados. Protect your ceramics, eliminate messy cleanups, and handle burnt drippings.
