Product Description
Use a Deflector inside the Fire Ring
Pair 14" deflectors with the CGS Large Spider to add fire ring level heat control inside your Large Big Green Egg. This setup opens the door to:
- two-zone grilling,
- double indirect cooking, and
- high-capacity barbeque with the Adjustable Rig
Best paired with: CGS Large Spider, Large Adjustable Rig, Woo, PSWoo, EGGspander, convEGGtor and other Large Big Green Egg indirect setups.
Pair 14" Half-Moons - Recommended
For most Large Spider setups, 14" half-moons are the best all-around choice. Use one for two-zone grilling, or use a pair for full indirect barbeque above.
Important: Only a single 15" half-moon fits the Spider. Anything bigger — pair of half-moons or full round, 15" or 16" — will not fit.
Use the Spider to position the deflectors inside the fire ring.
- Two-zone grilling: use one 14" or 15" half-moon on the Spider
- Full indirect barbeque: use two 14" half-moons on the Spider
- Double indirect: use 14" half-moons on the Spider below your normal indirect setup
With the Large Adjustable Rig and Spider, you can build a high-capacity barbeque setup: 4 pork butts, 2 briskets or 6 racks of ribs on 3 levels.
Recommended Add-Ons
Best drip pan size for the Spider inside the fire ring. Helps protect ceramic deflectors and makes cleanup easier when lined with foil.

Use & Care
- Bring deflectors up to temperature with the grill to help reduce thermal shock.
- Use a drip pan during barbeque cooks to help protect the ceramic.
- Do not use oil, soap or detergents on the ceramic.
- Do not clean ceramic deflectors in a dishwasher.
- Scrape debris and gently burn off residue as needed.
- Avoid aggressive high-heat clean burns.
- Natural smoke darkening is normal and does not affect performance.

FAQs
Which deflector size is best for the Large Spider?
The 14" half-moon is the best all-around deflector for the 3 Large Spiders.
```When should I use a 15" half-moon?
Use one 15" half-moon when you want maximum coverage for two-zone grilling at fire ring level. Note, a pair of 15" half-moons do not fit the Spider.
Will a 16" deflector fit on the Spider inside the fire ring?
No. A 16" deflector is too large for the Spider inside the Large Big Green Egg fire ring.
What is double indirect cooking?
Double indirect uses a lower heat barrier on the Spider and a second indirect setup above it. For example, use 14" half-moons on the Spider, then use your normal convEGGtor, EGGspander, PSWoo, Woo or Adjustable Rig indirect setup above.
Should I use a drip pan?
Yes, especially for barbeque cooks. The CGS 14" stainless drip pan is the best size for the Spider inside the fire ring.
