This Kick Ash Charcoal Basket Package is designed specifically for the XL’s bigger chamber to improve combustion efficiency, stabilize airflow, and simplify ash cleanup.

Whether you choose the Basket alone or the complete system, this upgrade makes a noticeable difference in startup speed, temperature responsiveness, and long cook performance.

Fitment

Some folks refer to the Primo XL Oval as the Primo 400 XL or Primo X-Large — each refers to the same grill model. The Primo Jack Daniels edition uses the Primo XL Oval Kick Ash Basket products.

Designed specifically for the Primo XL, the Kick Ash XL products do NOT fit the Primo XXL, Large Oval, Round, or other models.

Our Preferred Setup

For both grilling and low & slow BBQ in the Primo XL Oval, the Kick Ash Basket holds the lump charcoal while the Can remains in the bottom of the grill. The factory lump grate can be used strategically depending on your cooking style:

• High-Heat Grilling: Remove the lump grate to maximize airflow and reach higher temperatures faster.
• Low & Slow BBQ: Leave the lump grate in place between the Basket and Can to mimic the grill’s natural restricted airflow.

Tip: When removing the lump grate, hold it vertically above the can and tap it a couple of times to drop the ash into the Can.
