Upgrade Airflow & Simplify Ash Cleanup on Your XL Big Green EGG
Add a Kick Ash Basket to your XL Big Green EGG to better manage lump charcoal from start to finish. This heavy-duty stainless wire basket:
- Securely holds lump charcoal
- Lets you quickly shake loose ash before every cook
- Maintains clear, consistent airflow for faster startups
- Provides easy access to the bottom of the firebox for ash cleaning
Pair the Basket with the optional Kick Ash Can for contained, mess-free ash removal from the XL EGG firebox.
Free CGS Lump Rake Included
Every Basket package includes a FREE CGS Lump Rake ($18 value) — the perfect tool for moving hot coals and breaking up large chunks for an even burn.

The XL EGG firebox is typically very consistent, but we always recommend confirming measurements before ordering to ensure a proper fit.

Choose the divider that best fits your cooking style. Both options install inside the Kick Ash Basket and allow you to create flexible two-zone charcoal setups.
CGS Adjustable Ang-L Dividers
- Adjustable - Multiple configurations, many more than a Single Divider
- Configure in the Basket just like in the firebox
- 14 ga. Stainless Steel;
- 3.5-inches tall
- Each Bracket weighs 1 lb.
Kick Ash Divider (KAB-DX-DIV)
- Stainless steel sheet metal construction
- Simple, fixed charcoal separation
- Designed specifically for XL Kick Ash Basket
Both dividers allow you to run direct heat on one side and indirect heat on the other — ideal for reverse searing, roasting, or managing smaller fuel loads.
Note, most folks prefer the CGS Ang-L Dividers for their multiple configurations.

Our Preferred Setup
For both grilling and low & slow BBQ on the XL Big Green EGG:
- High-Heat Grilling: Remove the factory lump grate to maximize airflow and reach higher temperatures faster.
- Low & Slow BBQ: Leave the lump grate in place to mimic the grill’s natural slower airflow.
Tip: Shake the Basket before each cook to remove loose ash and maintain consistent airflow.
