No Basket Divider

The Small Big Green EGG is too compact to effectively use a charcoal basket divider. For direct and indirect cooking, we recommend using a CGS Small Woo with a half-moon deflector instead.

Our Preferred Setup

For both grilling and low & slow BBQ on the Small Big Green EGG:

• High-Heat Grilling: Remove the factory lump grate to maximize airflow and reach higher temperatures faster.
• Low & Slow BBQ: Leave the lump grate in place to mimic the grill’s natural slower airflow.

Tip: Shake the Basket before each cook to remove loose ash and maintain consistent airflow.

Material and design details matter:

• Uses high-quality 304 stainless steel
• Built with proper wire diameter for strength and heat resistance

• Maintains proper clearances for manufacturer and third-party accessories, including CGS systems

Not all baskets use true 304 stainless, the same wire thickness, or maintain correct internal spacing — all of which affect durability and compatibility. Charcoal can repeatedly reach temperatures approaching 1800°F, making material quality critical.
