A Basket Divider allows you to manage lump charcoal for smaller fires or true two-zone cooking inside your Primo XL Oval 400.
Choose the Divider that best fits your cooking style. The Divider installs quickly inside the Kick Ash Basket.
CGS Adjustable Divider (CGS-12L)

Both dividers allow you to run direct heat on one side and indirect heat on the other — ideal for reverse searing, roasting, or managing smaller fuel loads.

The Kick Ash Can sits in the bottom opening of your Primo Oval XL 400 firebowl to collect ash for quick, contained removal. Lift, dump, replace — it’s a simple, clean process.

Our Preferred Setup
- High-Heat Grilling: Remove the lump grate to maximize airflow and reach higher temperatures faster.
- Low & Slow BBQ: Leave the lump grate between the Basket and Can to mimic the grill’s natural slower airflow.
Tip: Hold the lump grate vertically above the Can and tap it gently to drop ash into the Can before removal.
Firebowl design may vary slightly. Always measure to confirm compatibility.

Ceramic Grill Store fabricated the first lump charcoal basket for kamado-style grills back in 2006 — years before baskets became common accessories. We understand what makes a basket system durable, usable, and effective inside a ceramic cooker.
Material and design details matter:
- Uses high-quality 304 stainless steel
- Built with proper wire diameter for strength and heat resistance
- Designed with airflow geometry that maintains a stable fuel bed
- Maintains proper clearances for manufacturer and third-party accessories, including CGS systems
Not all baskets use true 304 stainless, the same wire thickness, or maintain correct internal spacing — all of which affect durability and compatibility. Charcoal can repeatedly reach temperatures approaching 1800°F, making material quality critical.
