The Basket improves airflow and allows you to quickly shake loose ash before each cook for cleaner burns and more responsive temperature control on your Kamado Joe Junior.

Divider Availability

Due to the compact size of the Joe Junior firebox, a charcoal divider is not recommended for this model. The limited cooking surface and lump capacity make traditional two-zone charcoal splits impractical.

For true two-zone grilling (direct and indirect), we recommend using one CGS 10-inch half-moon deflector on the CGS Joe Junior Expander – Woo. This setup provides better heat separation and more usable cooking space than a basket divider.

Our Preferred Setup

For best results on the Kamado Joe Junior:

• High-Heat Grilling: Remove the factory lump grate to maximize airflow and reach higher temperatures faster.
• Low & Slow BBQ: Leave the lump grate in place to mimic the grill’s natural slower airflow.

Tip: Shake the Basket before each cook to remove loose ash and maintain consistent airflow.

Not all baskets use true 304 stainless, the same wire thickness, or maintain correct internal spacing — all of which affect durability and compatibility. Charcoal can repeatedly reach temperatures approaching 1800°F, making material quality critical.
