How to Install the Thermometer

Installing your new dome thermometer requires only basic hand tools:

1. Use a 13 mm wrench or pliers on the inside of the dome to loosen and remove the old retaining nut and washer.
2. Slide the old thermometer out through the front opening of the ceramic dome.
3. Insert the stem of the new replacement thermometer through the dome hole.
4. From inside the dome, slide on the washer and thread on the retaining nut hand-tight.
5. Align the front dial face so it rests straight, then gently snug the nut with a wrench. Do not overtighten the nut against the ceramic dome.

How to Calibrate the Thermometer

Before installing or after extended use, verify thermometer accuracy using a pot of boiling water. Water boils at 212°F (100°C) at sea level. The boiling point decreases at higher elevations.

• Bring a small pot of water to a rolling boil.
• Submerge the thermometer probe stem in the boiling water. Do not let the tip touch the bottom or side of the pot.
• If the needle does not register the expected boiling temperature for your elevation, hold the dial face firmly and use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the calibration screw on the backside until the needle reads correctly.
