Genuine Replacement Lower Vent for Kamado Joe Grills

Replace a damaged or worn lower vent with a genuine Kamado Joe stainless steel draft door. This factory replacement mounts at the bottom of the ceramic grill and controls the incoming airflow that feeds the charcoal fire.

Opening the lower draft door increases airflow to build a hotter fire, while reducing the opening limits oxygen for lower-temperature cooking and smoking.

Made from stainless steel for durable outdoor use, the replacement draft door is available in sizes for Joe Jr., Classic Joe, Konnected Joe, Big Joe, and Pro Joe grills.

Lower Airflow & Temperature Control

Temperature control in a kamado starts with airflow. Air enters through the lower draft door, feeds the charcoal fire, and exits through the top vent.

  • Genuine Kamado Joe Replacement: Factory replacement lower draft door for compatible Kamado Joe grills.
  • Stainless Steel Construction: Durable metal construction designed for outdoor grill use.
  • Adjustable Air Intake: Sliding draft door controls the amount of oxygen entering the bottom of the grill.
  • Restores Factory Operation: Replaces a bent, damaged, difficult-to-slide, or worn original lower vent.
  • Model-Specific Fit: Three sizes are available to match compatible Kamado Joe grill models.

When Should You Replace the Draft Door?

A lower draft door normally lasts for years, but replacement may be worthwhile if the original door is bent, damaged, difficult to slide, or no longer closes properly against the grill.

Restoring smooth movement makes it easier to repeat your vent settings and manage the amount of air feeding the charcoal.

Installation

Installing the new draft door is straightforward. You will need an 8 mm wrench or pliers, a #2 Phillips screwdriver, a box cutter, and a small tube of clear high-temperature silicone caulk.

  1. Remove the internal firebowl assembly to access the inside washers and nuts. Note whether the original washers are located inside or outside of the grill before removal.
  2. Remove the existing vent and track using your screwdriver and wrench. Gently slice through the existing caulk with the box cutter to free the slider track. Move slowly so you do not damage the glaze finish or ceramic.
  3. Remove as much of the existing caulk as possible without scratching the ceramic glaze. It does not need to be perfectly clean.
  4. Loosely attach the new vent track using the provided screws, washers, and nuts.
  5. Before snugging the hardware down, run a bead of clear high-temperature silicone caulk around the back of the track to create an airtight seal.
  6. Tighten the assembly hardware and wipe away any excess caulk. Run one final thin bead of caulk around the perimeter of the top and bottom tracks.
  7. Allow the assembly to completely dry and cure according to the silicone manufacturer's instructions before firing up the grill.

Total time: About a 2- to 3-beer process!
