Product Description
Build Multi-Level Heat Zones with Half-Moon Cooking Surfaces
The Kamado Joe Divide & Conquer Flexible Cooking Rack is the framework behind Kamado Joe's half-moon cooking system. The rack lets you position half-moon grids, griddles, soapstones, and other cooking surfaces at different levels inside the grill.
Available for Classic Joe, Konnected Joe, and Big Joe grills, the Divide & Conquer rack gives you the flexibility to create different heat zones, combine different cooking surfaces, and move food closer to or farther away from the charcoal.
Please Note: The rack is only the wire frame—cooking grids and accessories are sold separately. One rack per box.
Why the Divide & Conquer Rack Matters
- Multi-Level Cooking: Position half-moon cooking surfaces at different heights to change their distance from the charcoal.
- Multi-Surface Flexibility: Combine stainless grids, cast iron, soapstone, griddles, and other half-moon components in the same cook.
- Direct & Indirect Zones: Run a heat deflector beneath one side while leaving the opposite side open for direct grilling.
- Better Heat Control: Move a cooking surface lower for stronger direct heat or higher for a more moderate cooking environment.
- Half-Moon Design: Configure each side of the grill independently instead of treating the entire cooking area as one fixed level.
Series I, Series II & Konnected Joe: 2-Tier System
Kamado Joe Series I, Series II, and Konnected Joe grills use the 2-tier Divide & Conquer Flexible Cooking System. The two primary cooking levels give you a lower and upper position for the half-moon cooking surfaces.
Important: The "2-tier" name does not include the additional lower support ring that extends down inside the firebowl. That lower ring provides another useful position for compatible accessories and cooking surfaces when you want to get especially close to the charcoal.
How the levels arew positioned:
- Lower Firebowl Ring: Sits down inside the firebowl for accessories or cooking surfaces that benefit from intense direct heat.
- Lower Cooking Tier: Positions half-moon components around the top of the fire ring.
- Upper Cooking Tier: Raises the cooking surface closer to the felt line for additional distance from the charcoal.
Series III — 3-Tier System
Classic Joe III and Big Joe III grills use a dedicated 3-tier Divide & Conquer Flexible Cooking Rack. The additional cooking tier takes advantage of the taller Series III grill body and gives you another height for positioning half-moon grids and cooking surfaces.
Just like the 2-tier system, the 3-tier designation does not include the lowest support ring inside the firebowl. That means the Series III rack provides three primary cooking tiers plus the additional lower firebowl position.
- Lower Firebowl Ring: Gets compatible cooking surfaces or accessories closest to the charcoal.
- Lower Cooking Tier: Useful for stronger direct heat and lower-position cooking.
- Middle Cooking Tier: Adds another height for staggering foods and building multi-level setups.
- Upper Cooking Tier: Positions food higher in the dome and farther from the charcoal.
Choose the Correct Rack
Divide & Conquer racks are not one-size-fits-all. Choose your rack based on both grill diameter and grill series:
- Classic Joe Series I & II: Classic 2-Tier Rack (KJ-FCR)
- Konnected Joe 18-inch: Classic 2-Tier Rack (KJ-FCR)
- Big Joe Series I & II: Big Joe 2-Tier Rack (BJ-FCR)
- Classic Joe Series III: Classic 3-Tier Rack (9009190038)
- Big Joe Series III: Big Joe 3-Tier Rack (9009190039)
Not sure what size or series Kamado Joe you have? Just take two quick measurements:

1. Inside Base Diameter (Left Image): Measure the inside diameter of the base at the top opening.
- Approximately 19": Classic Joe or Konnected Joe
- Approximately 25": Big Joe
2. Depth from Ring to Rim (Right Image): Measure from the top of the ceramic insert (metal ring) to the top of the base rim.
- Approximately 3" to 4": Series I, Series II, or Konnected Joe
- Approximately 6" to 8": Series III
Match Measurement #1 with Measurement #2 to determine your grill size and series group.
Measurements do not need to be exact—just close to these numbers. Minor manufacturing variations have occurred over the years.
Kamado Joe OEM product: This product includes the Divide & Conquer Flexible Cooking Rack only. Cooking grids, ceramic heat deflectors, griddles, soapstones, and other half-moon cooking surfaces are sold separately. One rack per box.
