Product Description

The Accessory Ring provides a platform inside the firebowl to sear, wok or set-up half-moon cooks. Fits the Big Joe multi-piece firebox.

Key Function: The Ring gives you a working platform inside the firebowl - something the Big Joe Divide & Conquer does not do. Plus, the Ring drops deeper into the firebowl, so you can:

sear, grill or blacken close the lump with grids, griddles or skillets;
wok hot and fast, Asian stir fry;
set a half stone under the Joetisserie, creating a rolling half direct/indirect set-up.

We fabricate two different Deep Drop Spiders:

LONG LEG - fits Big Joe with the multi-piece firebox, with or without the Kick Ash Charcoal Basket (no basket divider);
HOOK LEG - fits Big Joe with the Kamado Joe Charcoal Basket (with basket divider);

Important: The Accessory Rings are not interchangeable and do not work on the original two piece firebox and fire ring design.

Long Leg Spider Detail:

The Ring sits just above the cast iron divider, approx. 1.75-inches below the Divide & Conquer's (D&C) lower ring. The legs slip inside the D&C's ring and do not interfere with the D&C. Please note, basket dividers for the Kick Ash basket are to tall to work with the Accessory Ring.

The Long Leg Ring can hold a round grid, grate and heat deflector that is 14.5" to 18" in diameter. The Ring can hold one of the Big Joe Half Stones. Our 16" wok is recommended for wokking.

Pictured below is Joe's Classic Cast Iron Griddle with our 18" Half Stone, EGG's Large Cast Iron Grid, our 16" Wok and a very cool reverse sear set-up using our Big Joe Expander.

Hook Leg Spider Detail:

The Hook Leg Ring hooks to either the top ring on the Kamado Joe Charcoal Basket or the lower ring on the Divide & Conquer. The basket divider can be used with the Ring.

The Hook Leg Deep Drop Spider can hold a round grid, grate and Heat Deflector that is 14.5" to 16" in diameter. The Spider can't hold one of the Big Joe Half Stones, as the D&C Basket interferes with the Stone. Our 16" Wok is recommended for wokking.

Fabricated with 1/4" 304 Stainless Steel round bar;
Tig welds for improved strength and durability.

KJ hook leg spider – new option for indirect cook setups – keeps my hands out of the fire

I do low and slow indirect cooks almost exclusively on my KJ BJ III. Fan of double indirect, sometimes with the slo-roller – sometimes not. And depending on the cook, I get desirable results with an added water pan.

The challenge has been - how do I stack all that up when it is game on and I am trying to balance heat deflectors on the charcoal basket tabs while the blazing hot coals are engulfing my hands? The pros on the internet aren’t fazed, but I freak and give up for fear of dropping and cracking the heat deflectors – while melting my gloves.

CGS hook leg spider to the rescue. I bought CGS 16 inch heat deflectors to go with it. Immediate ear-to-ear smile on my face from the first time I used it. Easy to quickly drop the spider on the bottom rung of the divide-and-conquer rack as I used it, or onto the charcoal basket. Then it is no challenge to place the heat deflectors on to the spider ring – mission accomplished and hands out of the direct fire very quickly. On to completing the accessories / cooking grid setup and bringing the KJ up to stable cooking temperature.

This opens several new options for cook setups. As I’ve contemplated and executed different cooking tasks / methods, I wished I had an extra accessory rack. The CGS spider gives me that. I’ve wanted to add a water pan under the slo-roller for a long cook. I can do that with the CGS hook leg spider. A 14 inch drip pan drops right into the ring. With the CGS spider and heat deflectors, I can execute double indirect without the slo-roller – so if I plan to raise the temperature above the 300 degree max recommendation for the slo-roller to finish a cook at higher heat, I am covered without having to modify the setup during the cook.

This purchase was a big win for me.

Your knowledge and experience helped me solve a 8 year challenge of saving that pure liquid gold drippings from being over scorched. The spider allowed the heat source to have an indirect effect and gave a 5 inch space from the second indirect stone that the dipping tray rested on. I was able to extract the drippings and filter it and add 50% of the original liquid injection to it and inject the Turkey half way with the drippings and Boom the flavor just went NEXT level!!! Thank you for doing what you do and you made our Thanksgiving meal a day to remember! Well made! 💪💪💪💪💪🦃
