Big Green Egg Acacia Egg Mates (Side Shelves) Big Green Egg Acacia Egg Mates (Side Shelves)

Add Folding Side Shelves to the Egg Nest

The Big Green Egg Acacia Wood Egg Mates provide two convenient side shelves for Eggs sitting in a Traditional Nest or intEGGrated Nest + Handler. The shelves offer a sturdy workspace for food preparation, cooking tools, pans, and grilling accessories.

Made from durable, sustainably harvested Acacia hardwood, these folding shelves attach directly to your Egg, providing additional workspace without requiring a full-size grill table.

The attractive multi-slat design complements the Big Green Egg's wooden handle and Acacia hardwood tables. Each set includes two folding side shelves and the necessary mounting hardware.

Why CGS Recommends Acacia Wood Egg Mates

• Fitment: Pairs easily with the traditional Nest and Integrated Nest+Handler
• Better Value: We find the Acacia shelves offer excellent performance for the money.
• Natural Hardwood: Durable Acacia wood holds up well in outdoor grilling environments with proper care.
• Attractive Multi-Slat Design: A furniture-quality appearance that complements the Egg and Acacia tables.
• Clean Finished Surface: No exposed screw heads on the top of the shelves.
• Folding Convenience: Raise the shelves when cooking and fold them down when not needed.
• Egg Cover Friendly: Compatible Big Green Egg covers fit over the grill with the shelves folded down.

Our Experience: We've tried a variety of side shelves on our own Eggs over the years. The Acacia Egg Mates have become our preferred choice because of their combination of appearance, durability, and value.

Heat Tip: Acacia wood handles occasional contact with warm items well, but it is not heatproof. Always use a trivet or protective surface beneath hot pans, pizza stones, or cooking accessories.

Choose the Right Acacia Egg Mates for Your Grill

Big Green Egg offers two shelf sizes for the Large and XL Eggs. We strongly recommend the larger 21-inch x 15-inch version for additional workspace. Egg Mates are sold in pairs and attach to the lower band of the corresponding grill.

• 21-inch x 15-inch: 2XL, XL, and Large Egg
• 17.5-inch x 11-inch: XL, Large, Medium, and Small Egg
• MiniMax Egg: 13.5-inch Acacia Egg Mates

Modular System Egg Mates can be found here.

Important: Select the Egg Mates designed for your specific Big Green Egg model using the product options above. Mounting configurations are size-specific, and the shelves are not interchangeable between different Egg sizes.

Installation & Everyday Use

The Acacia Egg Mates attach to the lower metal band of the Egg using mounting brackets, nuts, and bolts. Assembly is straightforward, and the necessary mounting hardware is included.

Once installed, the shelves fold upward to provide a convenient workspace on both sides of your grill. When you're finished cooking, fold them down to reduce the overall footprint and accommodate a properly fitted Egg cover.

How to Care for Acacia Egg Mates

The Acacia wood comes with a light oil finish containing UV stabilizers. Clean the shelves with warm water and mild soap, then dry thoroughly. Periodically maintain the finish with an appropriate exterior wood-care product as needed.

For longer-lasting appearance and performance, keep the shelves covered when not in use and avoid leaving hot cookware, standing water, or grease on the wood.
