Product Description
All About Heat Deflector Racks for Primo Oval Grills
Important: Sold in Pairs, Grill needs a pair.
Heat Deflector Racks are required for indirect cooking on your Primo Oval. They hold the ceramic deflector plates just below the cooking grids.
Most Common Uses
- Two Racks + Two Plates: Full indirect setup for smoking and all-day barbecue cooks.
- One Rack + One Plate: Divide the grill into direct and indirect zones for versatile two-zone grilling.
How They Work
The rack hangs down inside the fire bowl, supporting the deflector plate under the cooking grid. Setup is simple: place the rack, add the deflector plate, then set the grid—usually in the raised position for best results.

Two Brand Options
For the XL and Large Oval, we offer both Primo brand and Ceramic Grill Store (CGS) brand deflector racks:
- Primo Racks: OEM fit for your Primo Oval grill.
- CGS Racks: Fabricated from 1/4" stainless steel bar, drop 1.5" into the firebox, provide easier lump access, and can also support a wok. Made in USA by us.
For the Junior Oval only the Primo brand is available.
