Genuine Primo Replacement Dome Thermometers

Replace a damaged, worn, or inaccurate dome temperature gauge with a genuine Primo OEM replacement thermometer. Primo's updated thermometer design features a sturdier threaded mounting stem for improved durability and a more secure installation in compatible Primo ceramic grills.

Two thermometer sizes are available for the Primo Oval XXL, Oval XL, Oval Large, Oval Junior, and Kamado Round. Select the replacement thermometer that matches your grill model.

Why Choose the Updated Primo Thermometer?

  • Improved Threaded Stem: Updated design features a heavier threaded mounting stem for improved strength and a more secure installation.
  • Genuine Primo OEM Replacement: Factory replacement thermometer designed for compatible Primo ceramic grills.
  • Easy Temperature Monitoring: Read the temperature inside the ceramic dome without opening the grill and releasing heat.
  • Restores Factory Appearance: Replaces a worn, damaged, or faded original thermometer.
  • XL & XXL Bezel Included: The larger thermometer includes the outer bezel ring used on the Primo Oval XL and XXL dome.

Thermometer Models & Grill Compatibility

Primo uses two replacement thermometer sizes. The Oval XL and XXL require the larger thermometer, while the Oval Large, Oval Junior, and Kamado Round use the smaller model.

Important: Primo's updated thermometer has a larger threaded mounting stem than some earlier models. Older grills may require enlarging the existing thermometer hole in the ceramic dome before installation.

PG0200033 — Primo Oval XL & XXL

The larger OEM replacement thermometer is designed for the Primo Oval XL and Oval XXL ceramic grills. It includes the outer bezel ring used around the thermometer opening on these larger Primo models.

PG0200012 — Primo Oval Large, Junior & Round

The smaller OEM replacement thermometer fits the Primo Oval Large, Oval Junior, and Kamado Round ceramic grills. It features the same updated threaded stem design in a smaller thermometer size.

How to Install the Primo Replacement Thermometer

Replacing a Primo dome thermometer is straightforward when the existing mounting hole accommodates the updated threaded stem. However, some older Primo grills have a smaller thermometer opening that must be enlarged before the new thermometer can be installed.

Primo recommends a 3/8-inch masonry drill bit when enlarging the existing thermometer hole. Follow the manufacturer's installation instructions carefully to minimize the risk of damaging the ceramic dome.

Installation Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

Review the following information before replacing your Primo dome thermometer, particularly if your grill has the earlier thermometer design.

Will the Updated Thermometer Fit My Older Primo Grill?

Yes, the current replacement thermometers are designed for the compatible Primo grill models listed above. However, some older Primo grills have a smaller mounting hole that may need to be enlarged for the updated threaded stem.

Check the existing opening before attempting to install the new thermometer.

What Size Drill Bit Is Needed?

Primo specifies a 3/8-inch masonry drill bit when the existing thermometer opening must be enlarged.

Use a masonry bit suitable for ceramic material and follow the procedure demonstrated in Primo's installation video.

Important: Drilling ceramic carries a risk of chipping or cracking. Work carefully, avoid excessive pressure, and follow Primo's instructions.

Do All Primo Grills Require Drilling?

No. Drilling is only necessary when the existing thermometer mounting hole is too small to accommodate the updated threaded stem.

If the new thermometer fits the existing opening properly, the hole does not need to be enlarged.

Does the Replacement Thermometer Include a Bezel Ring?

The larger PG0200033 thermometer for the Primo Oval XL and XXL includes the outer bezel ring used on these models.

The smaller PG0200012 replacement thermometer is designed for the Primo Oval Large, Oval Junior, and Kamado Round.

Why Is My Dome Temperature Different from My Cooking Grid Temperature?

A dome thermometer measures temperature near the top of the cooking chamber, while a cooking grid probe measures temperature closer to the food.

These readings can differ depending on charcoal placement, heat deflectors, airflow, and cooking configuration. A difference between dome and grid temperatures does not automatically mean the thermometer is inaccurate.
