Smart Control Meets Everyday Kamado Cooking

The Kamado Joe Konnected Joe 18" Digital Ceramic Grill brings smart control to one of the most popular kamado sizes. Built on the Classic Joe size for backyard cooking, it combines traditional ceramic performance with digital temperature control and automatic fire management—making it easier than ever to hold steady temperatures or sear at high heat.

The easiest way to jump into kamado cooking—without manually lighting charcoal

No fire starters, no guesswork—just set your target temperature and cook.

Configuration & Fitment

  • Cart Model: Features a heavy-duty rolling cart with locking casters, lower storage shelf, folding aluminum side shelves, and the integrated Konnected Joe digital control system.
  • Built-In Installation (Not Recommended): The Konnected Joe requires active surrounding airflow to cool internal digital components. Enclosing the unit in an island or outdoor kitchen can trap heat and degrade electronic performance. The factory cart provides essential operational clearance.

Key Features & Control Modes

Digital & Manual Versatility

  • Digital Mode: Set your target temperature on the controller or app and let the system automatically manage airflow.
  • Manual Mode: Operates like a traditional kamado with full manual top and bottom vent control.
  • Hybrid Cooking: Start automatically, then adjust manually whenever you want a hands-on cook.

Core Konnected Technology

  • Digital Kontrol Board™: Graphic digital display for precise temperature profiling and cook monitoring.
  • Automatic Fire Starter (AFS™): Push-button element quickly ignites lump charcoal without lighter fluid.
  • Kontrol Fan™: Automatically adjusts airflow to hold set pit temperatures within narrow margins.
  • Power Requirement: Requires a standard 120V electrical outlet for ignition, fan, and control board power.

Standard Konnected Joe Components

  • 250 sq. in. Cooking Surface: 18" diameter grid—ideal for family dinners, racks of ribs, or whole poultry.
  • 2-Tier Divide & Conquer® System: Multi-level rack design with two half-moon stainless steel grids and ceramic heat deflectors.
  • Air Lift Hinge: Reduces dome weight drastically so the heavy ceramic lid opens effortlessly.
  • Kontrol Tower™ Top Vent: All-aluminum, rain-resistant top vent for fine airflow adjustments.
  • AMP Firebox & Ash Drawer: High-density segmented firebox resists breakage, paired with a slide-out ash drawer for fast cleanups.
  • Classic Joe III Style Cart: Heavy-duty powder-coated steel cart frame with lower storage shelf and folding side shelves.

Comparisons & Specifications

Konnected Joe vs. Classic Joe II & Classic Joe III

All three models share the same heavy-duty 18" ceramic shell and 250 sq. in. base cooking surface. The main differences are control and structure:

  • Konnected Joe vs. Classic Joe II: Shares the standard 2-tier Divide & Conquer rack system, but adds digital automation, fan control, and electric ignition.
  • Konnected Joe vs. Classic Joe III: Shares the heavy-duty cart frame and side shelves, but utilizes the 2-tier rack system instead of the Classic III's 3-tier setup and Hyperbolic Insert.

Built-In Automation vs. Standalone Controllers

  • Integrated Ignition: The Konnected Joe features built-in charcoal ignition; third-party side-mounted controllers only manage air draft via external blowers.
  • Seamless Design: No external wires, dangling blowers, or adapter plates mounted to the bottom vent draft door.
  • Dual Operation: Can run completely manually without removing equipment; side-mounted blower systems typically require removing the adapter plate for manual vent cooks.
Can you use a charcoal basket in the Konnected Joe?

No. A charcoal basket cannot be used in the Konnected Joe because of the Automatic Fire Starter (AFS™) electric heating element at the bottom of the firebox. A stainless steel charcoal basket will interfere with or damage the heating element. Lump charcoal should be loaded directly into the multi-piece firebox.

What happens if you lose power or don't have an electrical outlet nearby?

The Konnected Joe features complete dual-mode flexibility. If power drops or you are cooking off-grid, simply open the bottom draft door and operate the grill in full manual mode using the Kontrol Tower top vent to control airflow—just like a traditional Classic Joe II or III.

Delivery, Freight Shipping & Setup

We ship grills nationwide via LTL freight! At 216+ lbs, the Konnected Joe is a heavy ceramic vessel. All grill orders ship securely on a pallet with liftgate service included to deliver the grill safely to your driveway.

Warning: Never lift the grill by the rear hinge or side shelf brackets. The band assembly is not load-bearing for full transport weight.

We recommend using a specialized lifting tool like the CGS Chariot or heavy straps to safely drop the ceramic body into the cart frame.
