1. Better Deflector Handling
The 10" diameter heat deflector rests on the Expander’s lower ring, just inside the fire ring. It's cradled by the CGS Expander's three legs, so unlike the Junior’s stock rack, a full round deflector won't slide out. The CGS Joe Junior Expander is compatible with your stock Joe Junior Deflector.
2. Easy In & Out
Built-in handles are easy to grab without interfering with your cook. Plus, the flip-up section on the grid still works.
3. Raised Grid for Everyday Grilling
The top ring on the Expander raises the cooking grid near the top of the base, making every day grilling easier and more accessible. The added height also creates the needed space between heat deflector and grid on indirect cooks.
4. Half-Moon Deflector Option
Set a 10" half-moon deflector in the Expander’s lower ring for true two-zone grilling on the main grid. Add one in the “Popular Add-ons” above.
Add a Sliding Second Grid Level
Transform your Junior into a two-level powerhouse. The upper grid slides back for easy access to the lower grid. There are two main components to adding a second sliding grid.
The Extender adds space between the upper and lower grids. Its base ring easily slips over the Expander handles, resting on the lower grid. The handles are required as they hold the Extender in place. Spacing between upper and lower grid is approximately three inches.
The 10" Sliding Grid slides smoothly back and forth on the Extender. Secured by hooks when back for added stability. Grid dimensions: 10" wide x 8" deep.
Pro tip: Close the dome to easily slide the grid back into position.
Compatible with the Kick Ash Basket
The CGS Expander works seamlessly with the Kick Ash Basket. For other baskets, just make sure it won't interfere with the Expander’s 1-3/8" drop into the fire ring.

Answers to Common Questions
Q: Will the Sliding Second Grid Bundle fit the Rack that came with my Joe Junior?
A: Most likely, yes. As far as we know, Kamado Joe hasn't changed the design of the Junior Rack. While it can be a snug fit, the Extender's lower ring should seat around the three contact points on the Rack.
Q: Will this fit the Kamado Joe Classic or Big Joe?
A: No. This Expander system is specifically designed for the Kamado Joe Junior and is not compatible with other Kamado Joe models.
Q: Will this fit other small kamado grills?
A: Probably not. Small kamado grills vary in size and design, so we can’t guarantee compatibility with other brands or models. This system is engineered specifically for the Kamado Joe Junior.
Q: Can I use this with a cast iron cooking grid?
A: No. Cast iron grids will not slip over the handles. The Expander is designed for the standard stainless steel cooking grid that comes with the Joe Junior.
Q: On the CGS Expander, are handles required to use the second sliding grid?
A: Yes. The handles are essential, as they prevent the Extender and Sliding Grid from moving during use.
Q: Can I use the deflector that came with my Joe Junior?
A: Yes, the stock deflector that came with your Joe Junior is compatible. We recommend our 10" half-moon deflectors in the Expander’s lower ring for true two-zone grilling on the main grid.
