Replace the Worn Gasket on Your Kamado Joe Classic I or Big Joe I
Restore the seal on your Kamado Joe Classic I or Big Joe I with a high-temperature replacement gasket made for the original felt-gasket models. This complete kit includes enough gasket material for the dome, base, and chimney, along with the tools needed to remove the old gasket.
The 1 1/8-inch-wide, 20-ounce Meta-Aramid gasket matches the original felt-style gasket width used on these grills. Its peel-and-stick adhesive backing makes installation easier while providing a durable seal for high-temperature kamado cooking.

Important: This felt-style gasket kit is not for Kamado Joe Series II or Series III grills equipped with a wire-mesh fiberglass gasket. Gaskets are not interchangeable between grill Series.
High-Temperature Meta-Aramid Material
- Material weight: 20-ounce
- Application: Dome rim, base rim, and chimney
This high-temperature Meta-Aramid felt is designed to outperform standard wool and polyester felt in demanding grilling applications. The substantial 20-ounce material provides a durable replacement without relying on thinner, lower-weight imported felt.
We source the gasket material through a United States supplier. The Meta-Aramid materials are manufactured in the USA and Germany.
Everything You Need to Remove the Old Gasket
Removing an old gasket from rough ceramic can take more than one scraper blade, so the kit includes a scraper and five blades. This is the same style of scraper we use when replacing gaskets in our shop.
Once the ceramic surface is properly cleaned, the peel-and-stick adhesive backing makes the new gasket straightforward to position and install. Plan on roughly a one- or two-beer project from start to finish.

Why Replace Your Kamado Joe Gasket?
A worn, loose, or damaged gasket can allow heat and smoke to escape around the rim of the grill. Replacing it helps restore the seal between the dome and base for more predictable temperature control and efficient charcoal use.
Before beginning the installation, inspect the gasket beneath the chimney as well. This kit includes chimney gasket material, so you can replace it at the same time if needed.
