XL Big Green EGG Expander, CGS Woo

If your XL EGG is older than 2014, you need to do these measurments to insure the XL Woo fits and can be paired with either the XL Adjustable Rig, ConvEGGtor or Flexible 2nd Grid.

XL Woo Ring: Measure from the top of the fire ring to the felt line. The measurement needs to be at least 3" for the XL Woo to fit your grill.

Pairing XL Woo: Follow steps below. to confirm the XL Adjustable Rig, ConvEGGtor or Flexible 2nd Grid can work in tandem with the XL Woo.
  - For Adj. Rig, the measurement needs to be at least 16"
  - For ConvEGGtor, the measurement needs to be at least 16".
  - For Flexible 2nd Grid, the measurement needs to be at least 15".

• set the XL Big Green EGG cooking grid on the fire ring and close the dome;
• slide a tape through the top vent until it hits the grid;
• take the measurement at the slider on the top vent.

15" Lower  Ring:

• XL Woo's lower ring sits near the top of the fire ring.
• Any round grid and griddle between 16" and 20" diameter can be used on the lower ring.
• CGS' 20" Round Stainless grid is recommended for conventional grilling. Same grid used on the XL Adjustable Rig.
• 18" Large Full Round Cast Iron Grid is recommended for grilling on cast iron. It is cheaper than buying two XL Cast Iron Half Grids and provides roughly the same effective grilling area. Also, can't do much at the skinny ends of a half-moon grid.
• Note: Big Green EGG's cast iron grids & griddles and 21" XL ceramic stones do not fit the XL Woo's lower ring. They are too big.
• We don't recommend using two XL half-moon griddles together directly on the fire ring. They create a cap over the fire ring and have a funky center lip where they touch.

Heat Deflectors

• CGS's Pair 18" Half-Moon Deflectors and EGG's ConvEGGtor are basically the same diameter (shown below).
• The ConvEGGtor slips into the XL Woo from the top with XL grid removed: Same process as EGG's EGGspander.
• Half-Moon Deflectors can slide in/out from the side -- no interference with the XL cooking grid.
• CGS 18" Half Stones are cheaper and provide more options than Egg's ConvEGGtor.
• Any deflector between 16" and 20" diameter fits the lower ring.
• Note: Egg's 21" XL Half or Full Round Ceramic Stones do not fit the lower ring. Our opinion: They are to big for the 21.5" diameter fire ring.

18" x 1" Reusable Stainless Drip Pan

• Excellent protection for the EGG, 18" Half-Moon Deflectors and ConvEGGtor from messy drippings.
• Stainless is reusable. Foil twice in an '+' pattern for easy clean-up.
  
• EGG's XL Disposable Aluminum Pans work too. Fun Fact: It is possible to melt Aluminum (1220°F) in a kamado grill.
• CGS Ceramic Spacers elevate the Pan off/above the deflector. Maximum spacer height is 1.5" using a 1" deep pan.

Our Flexible 2nd Grid is the easiest way to add another grilling level above the XL Woo. With it, you have the option to add a half or full grid above.

Plus, unlike EGG's Eggspander, it is possible to slide a half stone directly under the half grid, creating an elevated indirect grid. It's perfect for a holding area or the reverse sear method.

• Top ring raises approximately 3-1/4"
• 15" OD Bottom Ring
• Bottom ring is approximately even with top of the fire ring.
• Fabricated with 1/4" and 5/16" 304 Stainless Steel round bar. 
• Made in the USA by CGS in our wire fabrication shop.
• Lump Baskets - XL Woo does not interfere with Kick Ash, Big Green EGG or CGS lump handling and dividing accessories.
• Note: Big Green EGG's cast iron grids & griddles and 21" XL ceramic stones do not fit the XL Woo's lower ring. They are too big.
  
• We don't recommend using two XL half-moon griddles together directly on the fire ring. They create a cap over the fire ring and have a funky center lip where they touch.
• We do not recommend cast iron on the top ring - keep cast iron close to the fire where it can absorb the necessary heat to do its thing.
