Counter Cutout & Clearance Quick Reference
- Main Counter Cutout Opening: Reference dimension "O".
- Front Latch Clearance: Reference dimensions P, Q, and R.
- Rear Lid & Hinge Clearance: Reference dimensions A, B, and I.
- Primary Height Baseline: Reference dimension "F" (top of base).
Built-In Outdoor Kitchen Installation Guidelines
Review these critical factors before building an outdoor kitchen island, masonry surround, or wood/metal table to ensure proper airflow, lid operation, and long-term stability.
Outdoor Kitchen Island Builds
- Keep the front open: Do not build a fixed, solid countertop section directly in front of the grill. Clearance is required for the lid latch—front ledges interfere with operation and often crack over time.
- Plan for lid rear clearance: Account for depth when opening the dome—especially against back walls or stone backsplashes. Reference dimension "I" (rear clearance from hinge).
- Short on counter depth? It is acceptable for the ceramic body to extend slightly forward past the front edge of the masonry, provided the ceramic feet are completely supported on the bottom support ledge.
- Account for ceramic feet: The ceramic feet add approximately 1" of height and must be included when setting final cutout elevations.
- Use "F" as your height baseline: Dimension "F" (top of lower base) is the key reference for setting grill height—similar to setting standard kitchen countertop or range height.
- Set proper counter alignment: Align the top of the base (F) at or slightly above the countertop line for optimal access to cooking grids.
Custom Table Builds
- Establish working height first: Position the top of the grill base at a comfortable cooking height (typically 30"–34" from the ground).
- Lower the shelf surface: The lower support shelf must sit below the main table top to allow proper access to the front latch and bottom draft door.
- Build a surrounding cutout: Surround the ceramic body with a circular table cutout (dimension "O") to maintain lateral stability.
- Factor in wheel height early: If installing casters, add their overall height into your lower shelf calculations before cutting framing members.
- Use heavy-duty locking casters: Install at least two locking swivel casters on the front side to hold the heavy ceramic mass securely in place.
- Provide ample side workspace: Ensure sufficient side clearance on both sides of the cutout for hot cookware, cutting boards, and accessories.
- Never place directly on combustible surfaces: Always raise the ceramic base using ceramic feet or non-flammable spacer blocks.
