Flexible Lump and Ash Management
Take the hassle out of charcoal grilling. The Kick Ash Basket and Can system optimizes airflow for more consistent temperatures and makes ash disposal as simple as a single lift. Add the Divider for split-zone flexibility and better fuel control.

Confirm Compatibility Before Ordering:
To be on the safe side, confirm these measurements inside your Kamado firebox to ensure the Kick Ash Basket will fit:
- Top Diameter: Measure 4.5" up from the charcoal grate. Your firebox must be greater than 17" at this point.
- Bottom Diameter: Measure across the charcoal grate. Your firebox must be greater than 10".

Optional: Basket Divider
Kick Ash recommends the Large Big Green Egg Divider (KAB-DL-DIV) for this basket. The Divider is a simple way to divide the firebox for smaller fires or creating indirect, split-zone heat.
Optional: Kick Ash Can (KAC-9.7)
The "Easy Choice" for ash cleanup. Place the Can under the Basket inside your kamado. Before each cook, simply shake the ash from the Basket into the Can. Empty the Can into a non-flammable container.
- For Grilling: Remove your lump grate to maximize airflow and reach high temps.
- For Low & Slow BBQ: Keep the lump grate in its normal position between the Basket and Can to mimic the grill's natural slow airflow.
Important Can Fitment: Make sure the opening in the bottom of your firebowl is 7.75" to 9.5" in diameter and at least 3.25" deep for the Can to fit.
Our Preferred Setup
For both grilling and low & slow BBQ, the Kick Ash Basket holds the lump charcoal while the Can remains in the bottom of the grill. The factory lump grate can be used strategically depending on your cooking style:
- High-Heat Grilling: Remove the lump grate to maximize airflow and reach higher temperatures faster.
- Low & Slow BBQ: Leave the lump grate in place between the Basket and Can to mimic the grill’s natural restricted airflow.
Tip: When removing the lump grate, hold it vertically above the can and tap it a couple of times to drop the ash into the Can.
