Adjustable Rig for the Large Big Green Egg®

The Adjustable Rig (Rig) is one of the first pieces we designed for our own use, over a decade ago. We're excited to say - it's worldwide. Many ceramic grill owners have reported that the Adjustable Rig is their "go to" platform and with the wide variety of Rig accessories, it's their only platform. The Rig's only true limitation is your grill's capacity.

In a few words, the Adjustable Rig is a simple to use “multi-level” platform. The Rig can be combined with grids, stones, pans and such to grill, barbeque, bake (pizza) or Dutch oven on one or more levels. The Adjustable Rig is easy to set-up, will not hinder airflow, weighs less than four pounds and can live in your grill.

Open Challenge: Simply, we'll challenge any other ceramic racking system when it comes to functionality, ease of cook and handling big cooks. Kamado Joe's Divide and Conquer system, Big Green Egg's center pole system or the swing rack have not been able to beat the Rig's flexibility. We have experience with each as we sold Kamado Joe; we sell Big Green Egg and we made the first swing rack for ceramic grills back in 2005ish. If you are looking for a way to do 'simple easy' but still have big functionality, the Adjustable Rig is for you.

post it note for helpful tip Many new Rig owners tell us, with the Rig in hand, they easily duplicate the set-ups. Our best advice is use the Rig pages as a guide to prioritize your needs (what you cook most often). Then pick the Rig Combo in your grill's product pages that best matches those needs. Most Combos will do 80%+ of what folks normally cook. The balance of the specialty cooks can be done by adding an accessory or two when the need arises.

What's up with the Notches: From time to time, we refer to levels or settings on the Rig. Simply, these are the notches on the Rig. The notches let us set-up at different heights in the grill. For example, if we recommend putting a 13"x17" Oval Grid at the middle (notches) level, it is nothing more than setting the Crossbars and grid in the middle of the Rig. Pictured below, the Crossbars are at the middle of the Rig - Notch 2.

Rig Crossbars: We use two "U" shaped Crossbars to support grids, stones, pans and such inside the Rig. The Crossbars slip into the Rig notches. The front Crossbar spans the two front brackets. The back Crossbar spans the back two brackets. It's as easy as dropping the Crossbars in the notches.

posty note for helpful tipCheck the Crossbar ends in the big picture at the very top of the page. When using the lower notch setting, the Crossbars need to rest on the Rig's lower ring, as pictured. This will insure a level platform with the Crossbars at this setting.

Adjustable Rig Height: Depending on your grill, the Rig is either 5.5" or 6" tall. We fabricate two because the distance between fire ring/box and felt line is different between grills. Not to worry, the correct Rig is listed in your grill's shopping section.

Now this is Cool: You can lift the entire Rig set-up out of the grill. No need to take anything apart. One lift will bring the entire set-up out! You can see us handle the Rig in the chicken and rib videos. You'll love this capability!
